LOS CABALLEROS Racquet & Sports Club 7 April - June 2011 www.loscab.com (714) 546-8560 ext. 200 tom thorne (age 53) tired of being tired, made a decision to humble himself and took direction from his two sons to get in shape. tom lost 48 lbs in 6 months due to consistent exercise and a balanced diet. tom weighed a robust 278 lbs and is now at 230 lbs. Grant and Kyle (tom’s sons) put together a personally tailored workout regimen, including 5 types of equipment to answer tom’s (Pops) plea for a fun type of workout. the program designed by his sons gave tom the initiative to get off the couch. upon discovering the ease of the plan, with the different variations of how to utilize the machines, as well as the various resistance, speeds, and length of each assigned regimen, tom began to have fun. Being a jazz drummer he utilized various tunes to go in rhythm with the motion of each machine, and the old monotony of working out subsided. Each designated machine workout had instructions for various time lengths and speeds, to work different muscle groups and create a variation in high intensity/ and aerobic activity as well. the traditional workouts which had burned tom out years before,.. dreading the thought of working out, were now a thing of the past! “i started to change the songs on the ipod to match the speeds, and i literally began to choreograph my movements to music. i then began to try creative placements of my own on the different machines (treadmill, elyptical, stairclimber, stationary bike, and the rowing machine). in addition i began to utilize my arms to do some isometrics while on certain machines”.
