Group Fitness Class Descriptions

 

 

All classes are one hour long, unless otherwise indicated. 

Look for special markings:

Special Note:  Our Aerobics Department periodically features special classes.  Announcements for upcoming events, class additions and/or changes are always

posted outside the aerobics room.

 

 

 

CORE BALANCE:  This new class format includes exercises that blend both

strength and balance.  You will work deep core muscles and use fun tools like

the Bosu and medicine balls.  Get a great workout and improve your posture too!

 

CARDIO SCULPT:  Each week is different as we mix a variety of cardio formats

with a variety of sculpting segments, creating a fun, effective total body workout!

 

CYCLING:  Learn basic cycling mechanics that will improve leg strength,

muscular endurance, and build your cardiovascular threshold.  Classes

include cycling drills, challenging hills and cadence work, all done to

exciting and motivating music!

 

HATHA YOGA:  This yoga class is held in the Main Studio.  Hatha Yoga works

through the mastery of the body and breath.  It involves a system of exercise

that trains through physical postures, breathing and relaxation techniques.

 

HI/LOW IMPACT:  This is a challenge class in the traditional hi/low format

with the cardio section lasting over 50 minutes, followed by a sculpting segment. 

Class duration is 1 hour 15 minutes, or 1 hour 30 minutes.  A great “old school”

cardio workout that really delivers!

 

LOW IMPACT:  A wide range of high intensity low impact aerobics without the

impact stress of traditional high impact movements.  Fun routines and motivating

music will keep you moving!

 

POWERSTRIKE: The perfect blend of martial arts and fitness.  You’ll learn 

basic martial arts techniques in a safe, noncompetitive environment.  You’ll

sweat and have fun too!

 

SCULPT ON THE BALL:  This sculpt and balance class will utilize the stability

ball for an extra challenge.

 

DOUBLE or CORNER STEP Take your stepping skills to a new level!  In this

class participants use two steps set at angles for a challenging and unique

stepping experience.

 

STEP PLUS:  Advanced choreography for a more intense workout.

 

STEP & SCULPT:  This class blends step patterns with intervals of calisthenics

and strength work for an athletic total body workout.

 

BASIC STEP: Want to learn step but having problems figuring out the routines?

This progressive class begins by mastering the basics of step and progressing

to the next level.

 

INTRODUCTION TO STEP: This special class will be held through the month

of March.  Learn step from the ground up and build on your newly learned

skills.  Emphasis will be place on proper form and technique, as well as

following musical rhythm.

 

STRENGTH/FLEXIBILITY: a one hour 30 minute class that begins with

warmup focused on alignment, then proceeds to strengthen and lengthen the

body by utilizing sculpting tools.  Class finishes with an intense slow stretch.

 

STRIDE:  This is a treadmill group training class where you will discover 

all sorts of terrain that a treadmill can simulate.  Whether you’re a walker,

runner or hiker, you will enjoy the experience of group treadmill training

with motivation from your instructor/coach.
